• Leadership Vallejo is a program to identify, train, and motivate current and future local leaders.
• Leadership Vallejo participants come from diverse backgrounds — business, government, the professions, the arts, and the academic world.
-
Leadership Vallejo participants get outside of their comfort zone and take on new challenges - they get in touch with aspects of the local community they may not know about - they find new ways to make a difference in the world - they make great friends and cherished memories - and they become the leaders they deserve to be.
-
• People with a commitment to personal involvement in the future of the community.
• People who aspire to leadership roles in the community.
• People with mature judgment, who have the support and encouragement of their families and employers to take part in the program.
-
The duration of each program is as follows:
• 9 Months: For selected participants of the Signature Leadership Program (September-June). We meet once every month for nine months — Fridays from 8:30AM to 5:00PM. You will also have additional meetings , which will be determined with your group project.
• 5 Months: For selected participants of the Youth Leadership Program (May-September). We meet once every month for five months — on Saturdays from 9:00AM to 1:00PM.
-
• Applicants apply online first and may then be asked to come in for an interview.
• Applications are accepted all year for the upcoming cohort. Only 50 applicants are selected to interview for 25 spots in the class.
-
There are
• 25 spots available per year in the Signature Leadership Program.
• 15-20 spots available for the Youth Leadership Program.
We look for people of a similar level of experience and leadership standing in the workplace environment who will benefit from the program as well as add value to it.
The selection processes for both the Signature and Youth Programs are competitive, as we carefully curate each program to have diversity in gender, culture, and organizational (government, not-for-profit, corporate, small business, sole proprietors, etc.) and to ensure participants are truly ‘right’ for each program.

Attending the orientation during Leaders’ Academy and graduation during Open House for both Signature Leadership Program and Youth Leadership Program is mandatory as they create the foundation and understanding of the whole program. It is preferred that participants attend all sessions, but we do understand that emergencies and life matters happen. In this case, we provide you a way to ‘make up’ for that missed session(s). You must attend a minimum of 80% of the program in order to graduate.
-
There is a small amount of pre-reading prior to a few sessions, in addition to the meetings dates set by your team to achieve group projects. These will take however long you want to spend working on them. The more you put into the work, the more you will get out of the program. There are no exams or essays!
For the community project (with group), it will last for the duration of the program. You will have time to work on it during the sessions, but most work will be required outside of the session days with your group.
-
No. Tuition covers continental breakfast and lunches for each session.
-
Absolutely not.

• The organizational tuition (i.e., employer or sponsor) is usually covered by your organization (unless you are paying for the program yourself).
• The personal fee is your own personal investment into the program (i.e., gas/mileage, etc.).
• The tuition fee can be covered with a payment plan (if needed). Please inquire if you need a payment plan to assist you with enrollment. Contact us to find out more.
• Some organizations may choose to cover both organizational and personal fees. Contact your employer to find out more.
-
The program fees cover all materials and catering during the sessions. The only elements not covered are the costs associated with the group project and with travel to and from certain experiences. We do not always meet at the same venue, as we are often hosted by different organizations.
-
There are various different scholarships available, which are limited. We also offer payment plans.
If you are in the position that you may require a scholarship, we would invite you to still apply and put in an application for a scholarship as well. To learn more about our scholarships, please mention the need on your application.
-
No. Each program is complete in itself and depends on building relationships with your cohort.
We do not allow people to enter another program partway through as this disrupts both the learning and the relationships that are formed within each cohort. We also receive more applications than spaces available, so we seek your upfront commitment to stay for the entire program.
